Community Spotlight: Discovering the Best Schools and Parks in the Western Suburbs.

Living in the Western Suburbs of Perth is a privilege many of us enjoy. With its idyllic location, beautiful homes, and abundance of parks and schools, it’s no wonder why it continues to attract people from all walks of life.

In this blog, I take a closer look at the best schools and parks in the Western Suburbs, with a particular focus on the suburbs of Claremont, Mount Claremont, and dog-friendly areas.

Let’s start with schools….

The Western Suburbs are known for their high standard of education, and Claremont and Mount Claremont are no exception.

Christ Church Grammar School, a prestigious boys’ school in Claremont, has been recognised as one of the top schools in the country, offering quality education to boys from Kindergarten to Year 12.

Meanwhile, Scotch College, an all-boys school in Swanbourne, is also renowned for its academic excellence and outstanding facilities.

If you are looking for education options that cater for both primary and secondary students, John XXIII College in Mount Claremont and Presbyterian Ladies College (PLC) in Peppermint Grove are both excellent choices.

When it comes to parks…

The Western Suburbs are a nature lover’s dream come true.

Claremont has a number of beautiful parks, but the standout is Lake Claremont Reserve, a 70-hectare natural wetland that is home to over 100 species of birds.

This reserve is a great place to walk your dog, ride your bike, or take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the scenery. It’s also a popular spot for picnics and family gatherings, with plenty of amenities, including picnic tables, barbeques, and play equipment.

Another popular park in the area is Bold Park, located in the suburb of City Beach.

This expansive park covers over 400 hectares of bushland, and offers a range of recreational activities, like hiking, birdwatching, and mountain biking.

It’s also a dog-friendly park, with designated off-leash areas for your furry friends to play and socialise.

In Mount Claremont, Perry Lakes Reserve is a must-visit for anyone who loves the outdoors. This sprawling park boasts over 80 hectares of natural bushland, as well as recreational facilities, like a skate park, playgrounds, and sports fields.

It’s a wonderful place to bring the kids and let them run wild, or to simply unwind and reconnect with nature.

In summary, the Western Suburbs of Perth truly have something for everyone, from top-notch schools to picturesque parks. Whether you’re a family with young children, a professional couple, or a retiree, this area has everything you could want and more.

And if you’re a dog owner, the Western Suburbs are a haven for dog-friendly parks and reserves, making it the perfect choice for your furry family member.
